.Are We All-Talk?.
...was looking through this morning papers when yesterday's The New Paper (TNP) appeared..the headlines grabbed my attention - something about some crazy (well, i think he must have been crazy) guy who went around hitting random people and later getting subdued by a voluntary cleaner. Talked about it with my dad over b'fast and i realised..it wasn't so much the beating that caught my attention..but what some people said about the cleaner's actions that was really..pissifying.
"..a bully..", "..unecessary violence.." and "..shouldn't have hit him.."?! HELLO??..wake up, people!!..that cleaner there just did what all of you didn't even DARE to do..he stood up for the innocent people who got bullied! You can deny it all you want but..seriously, what is wrong with some of us Singaporeans? How many times have you heard victims of public abuse say,"..everybody just stood around and stared but no one came forward to help.."? This guy..this cleaner actually came forward to help subdue the man, completely disregarding his own safety for the sake of others'. If that still doesn't make any sense to you all - how about considering this.
What if the madman had gone after you? Or he had picked up a weapon like a knife or something and chased you down? And no one did anything except stare and keep quiet while he bashed you? Think i'm exaggerating? Fine, what if the victim was your own mother?
Singaporeans : This is the kind of character stuff that aren't taught in textbooks or lectures. THIS is what we should be made of. For goodness' sake, stop giving your worthless post-situation analysis unless you did something about it. For me, there were two bullies in that incident. The obvious one was, of course, the madman. The other bullies, were the people who stood around watching the cleaner subdue the man and then turn around and call him names. For those people, i honestly wish you all the best in life; and if one day someone confronts you on Orchard Road, bashes you senseless and leaves you bleeding to death on the floor, no one will bother about you.
..and for the cleaner (kinda forgot his name heh)..he reminded me of one quote from some movie i watched ago..goes something like this :
"What makes a man a real man? Is it his origins? His upbringing? His habits? None. It's his actions - his decision to do what is right, no matter what others' say. A real man doesn't have to always start something, but he will make sure he it is finished. That, is what a man is made up of."
...it's a bloody hot wednesday..urfgh.

Would you want everyone to just stare?
