.Hakuna Matata.
Yesterday at psych. Ian wanted to do a one-on-one analysis with every one of us regarding our essay..(i got 9/10 by the way..pui.) So while the rest of us waited for our turns..we watched the Lion King..yes, ridiculous as it sounds..we did. But the funny thing was..i actually enjoyed it. All over again. Was telling vinu about how i had the LD and bern had the soft toy of Simba and mufasa (yea i always tot it was mustafa! haha..like the Indian shopping centre back home)..and i had the game and we both had the lion king blanket..haha..i really did like that show.
In 'To Kill A Mockingbird'..Atticus once said that we can always learn something valuable..even from the most insignificant person. I kinda thought i derived something from Lion King yesterday. When Scar took over the throne, he refused to let anyone use Mufasa's name (gosh why do i feel so weird telling the story?!)..and i always tot it was because he killed his brother and din want anyone to mention it. But while mopping the floor this morning (noticed how i shrewdly added the fact that i clean my house into a serious reading? haha)..it hit me. It's not just that - it was the fact that scar always was jealous of his brother. Yes, he commited murder and was guilty, but it didn't matter to him. What mattered was the fact that his brother WAS a better ruler than he was. Scar didn't want people (or animals..wadeva.) to mention Mufasa's name because he knew that when compared, he would never be able to be the ruler his brother was.

Which brings me to my point - isn't it true that we all have something to hide?
well if u are still reading this it means u either (1) are interested in wad i have to say, or (2) is a lion king fan..of which if u are the latter u shld stop reading now coz that's all i'm gonna say about LK. but seriously, most of us don't like to admit it..but we all have a certain (or more than 1) thing about ourselves that we dun want ppl to know - be it our background, our past, our relationship or just plain ourselves.

So wad do we do? We run.
truth is..we can't help it. it's in our nature to run from something we did wrong..a mistake we committed..a side of us that we dun want to be associated with. we, especially asians, put up a brave front infront of others..so that we appear to be really happy and everything. Don't get me wrong i'm not saying my life sucks or anything..it's just that alot of us do it. And we do it because we dun want people to look down on us. It's a whole vicious cycle.
so stop running away from wadeva you are. face it.
i have a family problem.
or i'm insecure.
or i think i'm fat.
or i masturbate 5 times a day.
or i like him but i don't dare to tell him because i'm afraid he'll reject me.
coz honestly..let's face it. There's no use running anymore..u can pretend all you want, but at the end of the day..you still come back to it. And the sooner one faces his or her shady secret, the sooner you'll learn to deal with it. Step up, and face the ghost that haunts you. And don't worry about rejection, or failure, or that you'll stumble.
Coz life is not about how you fell..but how you get up and walk again.
Plus you always always know that besides friends and family, you have Him there for you. And that alone is a good reason enough to face the truth.
