..for some reason the past week saw lots of byes and farewells of the weirdest kinds..andre, whom i havent seen in 3 years, came surprisingly to visit and left us with a rekindled friendship and funny ktv stories, graduation night came and went too, leaving nothing more than a huge empty ballroom and wonderful memories..
..and then grandpa left too.
..And even though i never was very close to him, the thought of not being able to say goodbye was saddening. Yes, i admit i didn't spend too much time dwelling on it; but having to hear about it from the strained voice of my mom or my dad just made it that little bit harder. I never got to say goodbye to the man who brought up my mom, and i never will get a chance to.
But i guess just like every other occasion or incident worth remembering, we all walk away with something else. Pictures, memories, lessons learned..or just the plain reminder of love that will always be there. And just like that, we all learn to wipe away the tears, brush ourselves and get up and walk.
I don't like saying goodbyes..coz i never really was good at it. It just evokes this swell in my throat and i silently start grabbing for whatever i'm leaving behind. And maybe its the thought of having to leave something that precious behind that just hurts; or the thought of 'maybe i should have appreciated it more'..but the funny thing is - that's how life is. When you gotta go, you gotta go. Coz that flight is still going to take off, or that disease is still going to consume him/her, or that heart really doesn't belong to you anymore, or that officer is calling him. Call me sentimental, but its not cute animals dying, or skinned knees or insults or tonnes of homework that makes me cry...
It's when you know you have to say goodbye, but you don't want to.
..and i guess in some ways, i like this quote alot coz it summarizes everything.
"..it's just..i don't live here anymore."
